Make a clear distinction between work and private life. If you have to work from home, make sure to allocate a specific area that is work designated. Don’t bring home unnecessary tasks. Working on the weekend doesn’t make you a hero- on the contrary; concentrate all your efforts during office time, and you will see that the results speak for themselves.
Eat like you care
Taking care of your body is one of the first steps to live a balanced and healthy life. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day-and not just nutrition wise! Starting the day with good energy can help you last longer and thrive during the whole day. But breakfast alone is not enough – eat lunch, don’t skip it and have an espresso and most importantly, take a few minutes to eat properly and not in front of your computer during work. No matter how busy it gets, you should always find a few minutes to take a break, and nourish yourselves.
Communication is the key to any good relationship, and it is an important tool to gain in order to make the best out of any situation. Learn how to communicate with your team, life partner, friends and family. A big part of honest communication is to learn to say no, with a smile of course.
Schedule in fun
Sticking to a schedule will help make sure your work doesn’t eat into your personal life. Planning ahead time slots for downtime is a great way to ensure that.
Make your job your friend
We all have tasks we enjoy more, and ones that we hate doing. Make sure to seek out projects that are enjoyable to you. Inform your supervisor of projects and tasks you are good at and enjoy, they’re likely to give you more if the same.
Reward yourself on the weekend
You can’t do a good job, if your job is all you do. Everybody needs leisure days, and keeping one day a week that is completely free of work, will help you keep sane for the rest of the week. Tip for advanced students- try disconnecting from your phone and email for the whole day, you won’t believe how liberating in feels!
